I went to see a client today along with the companies President amongst others. It was the longest meeting I think I have ever been a part of.
Near the end of the meeting, it came down to the always delicate issue of money for a couple of development items and one for the non-performace of a certain system (marketing). It was very interesting to watch my President negotiate the billing issues. In particular, the one where the client wasn’t happy. The way he hanlded it was really awsome to watch and it was cool to see just how well he could speak. The client seemed to respect and understand everything that was said even though they were not particularly happy. The difference in style compared to what I have seen from other higher-ups in the company, including one who was present at that meeting and negotiating on the same point was quite fantastic. I look forward to the next opportunity where I can watch President negotiate so I can watch and learn.
Well, a letter about the company bonus was finally delivered today. Amost 3 months late. But I guess its better than no annoucement (which is what happened last may). The complete lack of any sort of apologetic tone in the letter is kind of getting to me a bit.
Though there were raises, they are to start 4 months later than normal, which means that everybody loses the difference for those 4 months.
With everybody staying so late it was a real surprise to hear that the company is actually losing money. It really kind of makes me want some financial transparency. But there is pretty much no chance of that happening. Better prosepects for the coming year (which is already half over, since it starts and ends in May) were promised though. Not really sure how to interpret that.
On Friday we had a Christmas party starting at 17h30 (which is still inside work hours) and pretty much everybody took part. It was good to be able to chat to people (expecially our Managing Directior) outside the confines of the business environment and could speak in a more casual way.
At 19h00 a few people left though, most people were still around until about 21h00.
Overall, a lot of fun.

Well, the employee interviews that I spoke of earlier (Emplyee Survey/Interview) happened last week.
I have to say that it was an eye opening experience. So many rumours fly around here and may of them seem to be unsubsantiated and not endoresed by the managements.

I found out yesterday that I am to be working at another company for a week later this month to do some installation of a technology called HBX which I will start looking into next week. This HBX stuff was actually something that I used on my own homepage starting back in 1996. It has probably changed since then though
