Day 9 – Hoai Hhon to Quy Nhon

The riding, especially in the morning, was fantastic due to great scenery and low traffic. It was extermely overcast in the morning and threated to rain (according to the weather forcast the night before) but I was lucky and it didn’t rain all day. According to some other tourist in Quy Nhon who came from south it rained quite a bit down there.

I dediced to slurge for the nice hotel, The Saigon, in Quy Nhon, at 35USD it was about twice the next most expensive I had stayed at, but at 4-star, I wanted to give it a shot. The restaurant on top of the hotel had some spectacular views of the shoreline. A fanastic place for a cool beer after a day’s cycling. Unfortunately, the nice atmostphere was not as spectacular as there was some sort of local function happening in the restaurant and there was not quiet atmosphere nor any tourists.

The weirdest thing about the hotel was that there was no place indoors to put my bike, only a place outside with a secuity guard. I talked to the manager of reception and he gave me the same store and gave me the excuse, “Look, this is a 4-star hotel, we can’t put your bike inside” which seemed absolutely ridiculous to me as every other night, without exception, I have put my bike indoors.
